For the past 5 years Granite Lodge #54 have been having a Duct Tape Derby. a fund raiser for Camp Goodtime. As D.D.G.M. I was ask to put a team in year. We had 2 teams from Cherry Mountain #50. Jayson Nestoruk & Matthew Smith, Trent MacLean & myself Larry Brown.
It was a race from the time the cannon was fired to start building our boat with just enough materials to float 2 people, race down to the river and paddled from point A to B and ring the cow bell. We never made it to point B., we were attacked by a "Great White" as soon we were in the water. Trent & I manage to escape with minor injures.
This event is sponsored by Nackawic Home Building Supply with the hard work of W.B. Edwin Corey & W.B. David Corey along with members of their staff. W.B. Gordon Thompson was busy selling tickets among the crowd.
1st place winners Andrew Barnard & Joce Jean, from Nackawic
2nd place Patrick Thebeau & Craig Thebeau, from Nackawic
3rd place Matthew Smith & Jayson Nestoruk, from Harvey
4th place Mike Flewelling & anthony Sharp, from Nackawic
Next year it is hoped this event will be bigger and better with more notices going out to more Lodges, a challenge to local fire dep't, ambulance service and RCMP detachment. An event that is worth entering or at least watching.

It was the night before Moose Season, as I made my official visit to Granite Lodge #54. W.Bro. John Roy presiding in the East. A small turnout but the meeting went very well. The W.M. informed us that he was moving to Nova Scotia and was getting married next year. (Congratulations John!) The highlight of the evening was when the Treasurer W.Bro. Gordon Thompson presented 2 cheques in the amount of $996.10 to Past Secretary of the Masonic Charity and Housing Company for Camp Goodtime. Granite Lodge had 2 fund raisers, one they sold tickets on a barbeque & cruise on the St. John river, the second was their Duct Tape Derby. Well done Brethren!!!
